Frome Nursing Home and Catherine House Care Home hosted their own Glastonbury-inspired celebrations, with live music, colourful decorations, and plenty of food and laughter shared among family members and visitors.
This local festival-style gathering is unique in that it brings the atmosphere of Worthy Farm straight to the doorstep of residents, fondly referred to as family members, without the need to travel.
It enabled everyone, including those with limited mobility or those living with a Dementia, to enjoy music and community in a familiar, accessible setting.
“It really felt like the real Glastonbury in our own backyard,” said Sarah, Home Administrator at Frome Nursing Home. “Seeing everyone together, relaxed and enjoying themselves, that’s what it’s all about.”
Family members, and team members at Frome’s nursing homes came together to celebrate their own Glastonbury-style festival, complete with music, dancing, and colourful summer fun.
The celebrations started at Catherine House Care Home in the town centre of Frome and featured featured familiar entertainer Danny Dukebox. The food included and a delicious spread of potato pots, egg, strawberries with cream, and ice cream for dessert. Then the celebrations continued two days later only 5 mins drive away, at Frome Nursing Home, where the home’s courtyard was brought to life with colourful streamers and inflatable instruments. Here, there was a surprise performance from Doug, a member of the maintenance team, who took to the microphone with his own rendition of an Elvis Presley favourite, much to the delight of the crowd.
Frome Nursing Home and Catherine House are located just over 25 miles from the actual festival site at Worthy Farm in Pilton, making this event a truly local celebration of the Glastonbury spirit.
Both homes provides residential, nursing and Dementia care in Somerset. The team supports individuals to maintain routines, make choices, and stay connected to what matters most.
