Evolve Care Group is pleased to share that Eve Carder, Chief Nursing Officer for the group, contributed as a subject matter expert for the Devon Care Homes Collaborative’s new Registered Nurse and Clinician Education Forum. The forum is led by Ann Butts, RGN, SCPHN, from the learning and development organisation Indago Development.
The first forum took place via Teams on Wednesday 25th June and focused on introduction to the forum, leading a team and supportive networks. This valuable educational forum aims to provide an open and supportive platform for registered nurses, clinicians and care home professionals across Devon to collaborate, share best practice and develop their knowledge in key areas of clinical care. This also supports nurses working towards revalidation with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), contributing to their required practice hours and ongoing professional development.
Eve has led Evolve Care Group’s Clinical Governance for the past 10 years, overseeing all aspects of clinical quality and compliance across Evolve’s care and nursing homes in the Southwest. Under Eve’s leadership, the clinician team of 11 professionals provide clinical oversight that supports the Group’s Registered Managers, Registered Nurses and all other care teams.
Eve presented: The Magic of Social Care Nursing
Eve opened the session with a powerful and thought-provoking presentation, “The Magic of Social Care Nursing”, which explored the complexity, leadership and privilege of nursing in the social care sector. She addressed common misconceptions about the role, particularly the myth that social care nursing is less demanding than hospital-based settings and challenged the group to reframe how they see their own clinical influence and leadership.
Eve encouraged nurses to reflect on those who had inspired them in their careers and the behaviours that made those individuals stand out as leaders. This prompted heartfelt contributions from several sharing personal experiences of leadership that fostered trust, teamwork and a no-blame culture. One participant shared, “I think you inspire us Eve” while others praised Eve for being a driving force behind their own professional growth. Several of the group also reflected on Eve’s significant leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in infection control and the vital support she provided to teams during that challenging period.
Eve’s session highlighted the unique opportunities within social care nursing for autonomy, emotional intelligence and multidisciplinary collaboration. Her message resonated with the group and reinforced the critical value of leadership, peer support and reflective practice – principles that underpin the forum’s purpose.
Eve shared “partnering with a learning and development organisation like Indago Development and DCHC brings together a shared passion for supporting and strengthening the social care sector. By working together, we can create valuable opportunities for professional growth and peer support that ultimately benefit those we care for.“
The new forum will combine presentations from subject matter experts, such as Eve, with peer discussion and sharing of experiences, challenges and best practice. Future topics under consideration include:
– Introduction to Social Care nursing, leading a team, supportive networks

Evolve Care Group, Indago Development, and the Devon Care Homes Collaborative remain deeply committed to creating a culture of connection and collective purpose. Through this forum, they aim to support the people behind the care — providing nurses and clinicians with the space, recognition, and encouragement they deserve. At its heart, this is about coming together for those who are most vulnerable, whose voices are not always heard, and ensuring that every action taken in practice is rooted in compassion, dignity, and shared responsibility.
