Catherine House Care Home in Frome recently hosted a carnival-themed fete that brought the community together for a day packed with fun, local crafts and activities for all ages.
As members of the public began to arrive, one lady was quick to comment “it is amazing to see so many local crafters together, their stalls look great and there is so much choice at reasonable prices.”
Sandra, the care home’s very own “Superwoman” and fantastic cleaner, added a special touch to the event with her superhero costume. This light-hearted appearance added to the fete’s carnival atmosphere and fitted in well with stall holders who opted for bright pink wigs and Hawaiian flower chains. Malcolm, one resident (fondly referred to as family member), had a great time checking out all the different stalls, enjoying a cheeseburger and having fun with the activities.
Ruby, another family member, jumped in to help her daughter Jackie at the tombola and popcorn stall, chatting with everyone who stopped by. Glenda and her family joined in the action, dancing to the upbeat music and spending time with the adorable animals from Twinnies Petting Farm, which travelled from Evercreech to join the rest of the community.
The petting farm provided lots of entertainment, featuring fluffy sheep, a Shetland pony named Dinky, and a friendly goat which the children loved to pet through the fence.
Just as all stall holders were packing up the heavens open with a thunder and lightning storm. Everyone mentioned how they have never seen the town empty so fast, hastily describing the unexpected end to an otherwise perfect day, as the end of summer approaches.
Catherine House understands the importance of keeping family members connected with the Frome community, allowing for a continuation of life whilst living in a care home.
