Ruby Brown, a spirited 84-year-old resident at Catherine House Care Home in Frome, recently had a day out visiting the care home’s head office in Bristol.
Team members Kim and Sharon were visiting the offices of Evolve Care Group who Catherine House are a part of, to collect training course material for the home, and Ruby asked if she could go with them when she saw them getting the minibus ready for the trip.
Ruby chatted for the whole journey down the M4! Then when they arrived at the offices, she was even more excited to be greeted by Talula, Evolve’s life-sized gorilla sculpture bought at auction to support the gorilla conservation and Wallace and Gromit’
s Grand Appeal at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children as part of Bristol Zoo’s 175th birthday celebration.
Ruby’s visit was such a privilege for the office team, specifically Morgan, who Ruby commented as “makes a perfect cup of tea.” Rebecca Cox, Evolve’s Workforce Director, said, “It was so lovely to have a cuppa with Ruby. Although we get to visit our care homes, family members don’t often come to see us!” Even though we in the office don’t have direct contact with family members, Ruby’s visit reminded me of the bigger picture of how our work in the office contributes to continuation of life in our homes.”
