Catherine house Nursing Home, in Frome, attended Songs for the Memory. This is a singing group for people living with a Dementia, and their carers, held their weekly event at Frome’s historic Masonic Hall on 9th April.

Residents of Catherine House Care Home and Frome Nursing Home, fondly referred to as family members, united in song, good company, and community spirit.

Taking place every Tuesday, Songs for the Memory gives people living with a Dementia the perfect environment to connect and socialise with others in a safe space within the Frome community.

Songs for the Memory started out as ‘Alzheimer’s Singing for the Brain Group’. However, In 2017 sadly the funding was cut forcing the group to close.

However, some members decided to take over and changed the name to Songs for the Memory and went on to win the 2023 Frome Times Group of the year award!

Catherine House and Frome Nursing Home, both part of the Evolve Care Group, strongly believe that relationships made in the community gives a sense of purpose and a sense of belonging.  It is our connections and meaningful relationships with other people where we draw our strength.
