A simple trip into Frome town for coffee and cake can mean more than it sounds.

For residents, fondly referred to as family members at Catherine House in Frome, Somerset, it’s all about staying connected to the community around them.

Regularly throughout the week family members can choose to pop (literally over the road!) to their local coffee shop, Coffee #1 to enjoy a hot drink, sharing a table and watching the world go by. For some, it was a quiet cup of coffee and a cigarette outside. For others, it was carrot cake and a chat indoors, just as they have done for years.

Maintaining daily routines matters because life does not stop when someone moves into a care home. It continues in familiar ways, with the right level of support alongside.
