Thistle Court Care Home in Cwmbran welcomed a fantastic turnout of family members, relatives, friends and children for its annual Tiki-themed summer BBQ. The home was busy throughout the day as people came together to enjoy the summer weather, with children joining the celebrations and Dora, Thistle Court’s much loved therapy dog, making sure she was never too far from the action.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was the food, prepared by Neil Whalen, Evolve Care Group’s Group Catering Lead
Neil prepared an impressive BBQ spread for everyone to enjoy, with a huge amount of work going into making sure there was something delicious for guests to tuck into. The food went down incredibly well and became a real talking point throughout the afternoon.
The afternoon also brought a familiar sound to Thistle Court when an ice cream van arrived at the home. Family members and guests were able to head out and choose an ice cream for themselves, adding another little piece of summer to the day.
Sarah, Home Manager at Thistle Court, said: “The turnout was incredible and it was lovely seeing the home so busy with family members, relatives, children and team members all spending time together. Neil’s food was definitely one of the highlights. He put so much into preparing everything for us and it went down brilliantly.”
For Thistle Court, occasions such as the summer BBQ are about more than putting an event in the calendar.
