Somerset Care Home Garden Tea Brings Two Households Together at Frome Nursing Home

Recently, residents (fondly referred to as family members) enjoyed a special afternoon tea in the garden at Frome Nurisng Home for Dementia UK‘s Time For  a Cuppa Fundraiser. The home is made up of two separate households, Woodlands and Parsonage, and both came together in the garden for the occasion. The table was laid out with pretty floral plates and cups decorated with Alice in Wonderland characters!

When one family member came outside and saw the table, she said it looked “very posh” and went straight for a scone, which made everyone laugh.

Kitchen assistant Nat helped set up the food, and Registered Nurse Ria got the tables looking beautiful. Cook Jamie got things off to a fun start by popping the cork on the sparkling wine and by all accounts enjoyed every second of it!

There was plenty of food to go around. Homemade scones with jam and cream were a big hit, along with jam tarts and finger sandwiches. The sandwiches came in a few different fillings, jam, cheese and cucumber, and tuna. Tuna was the favourite by far.

Country music played in the background while everyone sat together and enjoyed the afternoon. There was also alcohol-free fizz for everyone to try. One family member took her first sip, pulled a face at the bubbles, and then kept on drinking, so it clearly went down well!

House lead Mandy said it was lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves, and particularly nice to see some family members joining in who don’t usually come to events.

It was a lovely afternoon that everyone seemed to really enjoy.
