Frome Nursing Home recently enjoyed an exciting visit from Twinnies Petting Farm who brought along two adorable Shetland ponies for our residents to meet.
The ponies, Jude, a 20-year-old standard Shetland, and Dinky, a 16-year-old miniature Shetland brought back fond memories for some of the care home’s residents, why they fondly refer to as family members.
Two former farmers, Michael and William especially enjoyed the visit and talked about their own farming days, reminiscing about tending to cows and their early morning routines. Whilst George, another family member, created interest when curious about how they kept the ponies tails clean!
Twinnies Petting Farm shared “our visit to Frome Nursing Home was really heart-warming, our ponies brought huge smiles to the residents’ faces, and we loved hearing their stories of growing up around horses and ponies. It was a joy to see the bonds that our animals were able to create.”
During the visit Dinky made a special visit to family members who preferred to be inside, which stirred much laughter seeing a pony walk around a home! This is just one example of the inclusive and thoughtful care the team at the care home provide.
