On 17th July, Frome Nursing Home residents, fondly referred to as family members, celebrated World Ice-Cream Day. The celebration took place in the comfort of Frome Nursing Home in Somerset, bringing together family members for an uplifting afternoon of sweet indulgence.

Cassie & Kat organised a personalised Frome Nursing Home ice cream ‘stall’, offering classic vanilla ice cream with the choice to add a number of different toppings like chocolate or strawberry syrups. The cakes, which looked delicious with Ice Cream Day decorations, were a perfect complement to the other sweet treats. However, it appeared someone should not decide to strive for a career serving ice cream, as Home Manager Becky Press joked “Kat should never work in an ice cream parlour. Majority of the choc sauce went on my hand rather than the ice cream!” Family member David Hughes’ wife Vicky added by saying “it’s lovely, David hasn’t had an ice cream cornetto in a while, that’s made him smile.”

Celebrating World Ice Cream Day is one of many examples that demonstrates how Frome Nursing Home focuses on a caring and well-led approach to adult social care. By facilitating events like these, family members can bond with team members and benefit from the sense of community created, as well as enjoying a sweet treat every now and again.
