As Christmas day approaches, Frome Nursing Home in Somerset has been bustling with Christmas preparations. From baking mince pies to decorating the Christmas tree and writing Christmas cards, the home has been filled with the sights, sounds, and scents of the season. Baking Mince Pies
Residents, fondly referred to as Family members, rolled out pastry, filled pies with mincemeat, and worked with team members to create their very own Christmas cards. Amanda, the home’s house lead, shared, “The family members have loved it. Peter enjoyed showing others how to do things. I showed him on Sunday, and we’ve been chatting about Christmas. It’s great to see the focus and smiles as everyone joins in.”
Decking the Halls
Next up was decorating the tree, a task Frome Nursing Home had been looking forward to as a chance to come together and kick off the festive season. Family members worked together to hang ornaments and lights, creating a warm and nostalgic centrepiece for their home. They shared stories and also added homemade decorations to the tree, making the activity truly special. Sherin, the home manager, remarked, “I love this family,” emphasising how Christmas brings everyone together.

Inclusive Celebrations
For family members like David and Charles, who remained in their rooms, team members ensured the festive activities reached them too. Materials for creating Christmas cards were brought to their bedsides, and their rooms were decorated with care. Peter and the team also wrote cards and placed them in a homemade post box, with the aim for everyone to have a card to open this Christmas.
